Big Island - Between Lava and Sky - Original Oil Painting
Inspired by my recent visit to the Big Island of Hawai'i, this original oil painting captures one of the island's most distinctive landscapes - the meeting of rugged volcanic terrain and tropical beauty.
Dark lava rocks and sun-dried grasses stretch across the foreground, while a small stream of lush green vegetation leads the eye toward the horizon. Slender palm trees rise above the rugged landscape, creating a beautiful contrast between the harsh, ancient volcanic earth and the unmistakable tropical character of Hawai'i.
I was drawn to this unusual combination of textures and colors - the deep blacks and browns of the volcanic rocks, golden grasses glowing in the sunlight, fresh green vegetation, and soft blue Hawaiian sky.
